Fall Schedule *& Events
It is very encouraging to hear from so many people who have wanted to know the dates for the Fall events. Your expressions of how much you have enjoyed these days means so much to us. It is no small thing to be able to make good times that turn into valued memories. We have desired to make the days an environment for family interaction.
This year Farm Heritage Day is October 4
Pumpkin Day is October 18
PYO pumpkins is open on both of the event days. It is open on Saturday mornings all through October. Night time hay rides are by reservations ( see website for details).
This year Jack be Quick ( the boar ) and Esther ( Essie the sow) have produced another litter of racing pigs. At this writing they are about five weeks old. They have had some good preparation for training. Of the five weeks they spent most of it on the dirt. Almost two full weeks on pasture. One of the keys to winning in Stockpig racing is to be able to figure out quickly. Sometimes pigs get confused which way to go on the track or lose their routine of running and get distracted by the crowd. Being out on the pasture figuring out how to get through this hole or get around the fence back to that hole that they came through actually helps pigs on the track. In the early training is when you need to help pigs learn and figure out how to run instead of just loafing on the track. This year's STOCKPIG Racing is looking very good. Stay tuned on facebook ( Indigo Farms market ) to follow the 2014 series and see who wins the championship.
