Blueberry PYO is open this Monday ( 7 am to 10 am) , Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The berries are fantastic. Every year I concern myself with the flavor, size and quality. This year the fruit set has been excellent for most varieties ( especially with the later varieties). Many of you have picked before and know that the season should go on through July and into August. You also likely know that the different varieties have their own particular characteristics. It should be an exciting season.
Blackberry PYO is open during store hours Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Now is a good time to pick balckberries!
The Blackberry field is open for pick your own on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The hours are the same as the store hours. Check and Check out is at the Produce market.
The Blueberry field will be open this Saturday at 7 am. It will likely close at 9 am. The reason for this is that so many people tend to pick fruit that is not fully ripe. That fruit is lacking in flavor and size. To avoid this we limit the amount of time for picking.
A little weekend surprise! The Pick-Your-Own blackberry field will be open TOMORROW, Saturday June 5th. The price is $3.50 per pound.
Stay tuned...it may possibly be open again either Tuesday or Wednesday.
The blueberries are coming along, though it still looks like Pick-Your-Own won't start until June 19th, or perhaps a bit earlier.
We're just starting to pick our own plums, peaches, and sweet corn!
It looks like the end of pick your own strawberries is here. There are still berries out there but not enough for both pick your own and for us to supply the market. You may still want to call to see if we are allowing anyone to pick at certain times. we have done this in the past occasionally.
Tender squash and fresh colorful beans have been seen coming from the fields. Yellow squash, patty pan squash, yellow zuchinni, Cos or magda zuchinni, green zuchinni are all coming in well now. You may not be familar with Cos zuchinni. Last year we had a customer who cooked it as a stuffed vegetable/meat combination. If you are interested now is the time to get it. We have some tender fresh beans. Snaps, half runners , yellow wax beans are all coming off the farm. We still have some garden peas and cucumbers. Blackberries are coming in as well. The high bush blueberries are beginning. the PYO and rabbit eye blueberries should begin about June 20th. Meanwhile look for peaches to start about June 10th. Plums will be about then or shortly after. Tomaotes, cantaloupes and melons will not be long either.
The strawberry field is doing some funny things. It has very little ripe fruit at the moment. The rain took away many of the would be ready berries due to water damage. But this year's crop has some life still in it. There are a significant number of green berries that we beleive will come through. As of Wednesday we know that the fileds will be closed for PYO until some time perhaps Friday or Saturday? Please call if you have questions. Thank you
The strawberry field is being kept up. The alleys are being mowed and the plants are in pretty good shape for this time of year. there are some great berries to come from this crop.
The blueberry crop looks good. In fact it may be better than good. The high bush crop is small which we began harvesting today.Pick your own will begin about June 20th. Picking will last into August. Look for updates at theis website. blackberries will come soon
We are getting garden peas, tender squash, zucchinni, beans.
The fields have gotten better! the flavor of the fruit is very good while the picking remains fairly good. The size of the fruit is smaller but large fruit is still there. The feilds should be open on a daily basis except we are closed on Sundays.
